Massachusetts Gastroenterology Association

Join MGA

The MGA welcomes participation by all gastroenterologists and gastroenterology trainees in Massachusetts.    Becoming a member not only supports our advocacy efforts in Massachusetts, but also allows members to participate in MGA educational events at a reduced fee.  

The Association has two classes of members: Full Active Member and Trainee Member (student/resident/fellow).

*Three or more gastroenterologists from the same practice join, there is a reduced rate of $150.00 per member.

Admission - Maintenance of Membership:

Admission to membership requires application to the Association and approval by the Board of Directors. Approval of membership applications is within the sole discretion of the Board. A member may retain membership only so long as he/she complies with the provisions of the By-laws, including without limitation the payment of dues, and Principles of Medical Ethics of the American Medical Association. A member who has paid all dues in full and met all other qualifications for membership approved by the Board of Directors from time to time shall be deemed to be in good standing.

Full Active Member: A Full Active Members is an individual who, as determined by the Board of Directors, fulfills the following minimum requirements: (i) possesses a valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; (ii) is board eligible or board-certified in gastroenterology as determined by either the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Board of Osteopathic Medicine; and (iii) maintains a residence or workplace in Massachusetts. Full active members shall enjoy such rights and privileges as may be from time to time determined by the Board of Directors, including without limitation, voting rights as set forth in the Bylaws.

Trainee Member: A Trainee Member is an individual who, as determined by the Board of Directors, fulfills the following minimum requirements: (i) possesses a valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; (ii) is currently enrolled in a fellowship program in gastroenterology which is located in Massachusetts and is accredited by either the American College of Graduate Medical Education or the American Osteopathic Association. Trainee Members shall enjoy such rights and privileges as may be from time to time determined by the Board of Directors. Trainee Members shall not be entitled to vote at meetings of the Association.
